Time to say goodbye - when pet's are at the end of their life

Time to say goodbye Saying goodbye to a pet is never easy. It’s even harder when you have to make that heartbreaking decision to have them euthanised if their quality of life is diminished. Generally, this is when a pet is elderly and their health is deteriorating and no matter what you try, they’re just not getting any better. While the easiest thing for us as the owner is for the pet to gently and painlessly slip away over the rainbow bridge - this often isn’t the case. It can be a huge dilemma for a pet owner - it can almost feel like you’re murdering your pet! “Am I making the right decision? Am I cutting her life short? Will she hate me?”  It’s one of the hardest decisions I had to make - as the owner of a beautiful 14 year old Huntaway/Labrador/Staffy X (Molly) - to have her euthanised. She was in constant pain, her mobility was affected, and she just looked sad.  She didn’t have incontinence or loss of appetite - two key indicators when it’s time to let a pet go  - but she was l

Homeopathics for post-surgery recovery

Do you know Homeopathy can be used to help speed up recovery post surgery? Many people try to avoid having surgery, but sometimes it's necessary and unavoidable. Often it's the recovery from operations that are worse than the physical procedure itself! But the good news is Homeopathy can greatly speed up the healing process, help with pain  management and reduce the amount of down time usually required. There are various opinions on whether or not to take Arnica pre-surgery. Arnica can thin the blood a little, and like any anti-coagulants, I recommend not to take excessive amounts of Arnica pre-surgery to avoid any  unnecessary bleeding. It DOES reduce bruising and pain however, and I highly recommend it post surgery. Pre-surgery, I suggest taking just one dose of Arnica 30c on the day of surgery and then resume taking it once able. Pre-surgery Remedies: Arnica 30c - once only on morning of surgery Gelsemium - If nerves or anxiety about the surgery are a problem, Gelsemium can

Supporting women through Miscarriage with Homeopathy

Ask any woman who has experienced a miscarriage how they’d describe the experience, and “devastating” is a word they often use. Whether it was a much-hoped-for pregnancy or a happy accident, once a woman knows she is pregnant - and if she wants to continue with the pregnancy - the Oxytocin levels rise and bonding begins. Sadly, about 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. But the actual number is likely higher because many miscarriages occur so early in pregnancy that a woman doesn't realize she's pregnant. A miscarriage usually happens in the first 3 months of pregnancy, before 12 weeks' gestation. A small fraction of pregnancy losses — happening in less than 1% of pregnancies — are called stillbirths, as they happen after 20 weeks of gestation. Symptoms of miscarriage may include: Vaginal bleeding, which varies from light spotting to heavy bleeding Fluid, blood clots, or tissue passing from the vagina Abdominal pain or cramping Lower back pain Fever and

Oh Sugar! Homeopathy for sugar addiction

Oh sugar!  I have a confession to make - I’m a recovering sugar addict.  I’ve always had a sweet tooth, and to me, cookies, candy, chocolate, cakes - these were all treats. A little reward for something or a pick me up. I know I’m not alone with my (former) desire for some sugary goodness. That instant hit of yumminess. Having a bad day? Have some chocolate. Got PMT? Have some chocolate. A global pandemic is turning people’s lives upside down - bake some cookies. And then eat some chocolate. As I approached my mid 40’s, I noticed my desire for sugar increased. Being a Homeopath and a healthy person in all other aspects, this was a concern to me. In the past, I could have a sugary treat and that would satisfy me. But I was noticing my need for sugar was only intensifying, the more I had, the more I wanted. I wasn’t sleeping as well as I used to, my mind was foggy, my memory wasn’t as sharp. I felt “off” and I was putting on weight, despite being very physically active.  I was in a vicio

The Homeopathic Consultation

The Homeopathic consultation - or Homeopathic conversation, as I prefer to call it, is a vastly different experience for those unfamiliar with Homeopathy. Unlike a standard doctor’s visit, the initial consultation takes between 60 - 90 minutes. During that time I ask a range of questions: such as medical history, family medical history, food likes and dislikes, fears, recurring dreams, etc. The reason I do this is to get as much information as I can about you - the client - and match the remedy that matches your unique set of symptoms and energetic blueprint. I often say Homeopathy is like peeling an onion - it’s a process of gently revealing each layer to get to the core of the issue underneath. Once that issue is established and the correct remedy prescribed, that issue often disappears. Many people find the Homeopathic conversation itself, is a healing process. Often it’s the first time someone has been fully heard and fully listened to.  Depending on the condition being treated, it
